New Post

So this morning I had a few mushrooms about to go bad in my fridge. I also had some onion; some leftover rice, and some eggs.

To prevent wasting those mushrooms and that leftover rice, we got creative and made this beautiful breakfast (I took the picture a few bites in…).

Turkey bacon, eggs, with fried rice mixed with mushrooms and onion

DEFINITION
What is secondhand shopping?

  • Buying previously owned items; typically clothing, accessories, furniture, or electronics. These items may have been gently used or worn before being resold. You can do this at thrift stores, consignment shops, online marketplaces, garage sales, and flea markets. It's a sustainable and cost-effective way to acquire goods while also reducing waste and environmental impact. Additionally, it often provides unique finds and allows for the discovery of vintage or one-of-a-kind items.

PRACTICAL ADVICE
How to use FB marketplace effectively

  1. Search up your item using key words

  2. Find an item that’s reasonably within budget

  3. Make sure the seller isn’t a business. Make sure it’s a private seller. You can do this by checking their seller profile. If they’re a private seller, all the items they’re selling should all be unique pieces. (ex: if you’re buying a phone, make sure their seller profile doesn't show 20 other phones also on sale. This means that phone reselling is their business, and likely they have no idea what the background or history of the phone you’re buying). True private sellers were the one who actually used the item previously

  4. Get to know the seller. I usually tell them “Hi [name]! I’m looking to purchase this as a gift. What makes you want to sell this [item]?”

  5. Vibe check the seller’s actual facebook profile. If they literally just made the account the same month they listed their item, RED FLAG! If they look like a wholesome family man or woman, that's better. Literally judge this person by their looks (we’re talking about your money here!).

  6. Tell them “I would love to pick up as soon as possible! Currently my budget is [a price less than listed], would that work? if so, I can take [item] off your hands as soon as today.”

  7. This is when they’ll send you a counteroffer that you can either agree or disagree with.

  8. CHECK FOR TOMORROW’S EMAIL FOR FURTHER STEPS!
