DEFINITION
What does “frugal” actually mean?

  • Whenever people hear the “f word” they also think “cheapskate!” That’s not true. There’s a difference between being frugal and being cheap.

  • A frugal person is someone that prioritizes spending money on things that add value to their life, and they avoid spending money on things they don't consider important.

PRACTICAL ADVICE
Double check the “deal”

  • Today I was in Publix buying a bag of Tostones. They had a sticker posted beneath it saying “2 bags for $11.” I immediately took 2 bags, and went to check out…(I only had the intention of buying 1)

  • I realized that one bag cost $5.50 on its own. So of course, buying 2 would make it $11... So there wasn’t really a “deal”; it was just 1 for $5.50; but the sticker made me pick up TWICE the amount I planned on. So of course, I put one bag back because i wasn’t planning to spend over $10 on tostones today.
